Louis Vuitton Handbags

September 11, 2008

Louis Vuitton is a name recognized throughout the world. Known for their fabulous design and quality product. One must ask how did Louis Vuitton handbags come to be?

In the early 1800s Louis Vuitton trained as a luggage packer for a wealthy Parisian family. He was then appointed by Napoleon III to pack the dresses of the Empress Eugenie. Little did he know this would be the start of his rise to fame.

Because of his extensive luggage knowledge, Louis Vuitton began designing luggage for the wealthy who traveled. His first invention was to design luggage that was flat and therefore easy to stack in railway carriages.

It gained popularity at lightening speed. It didn’t take long before his competition was copying his design. Soon after Louis Vuitton marked his luggage with distinctive stripes and checkerboard patterns.

In 1854 the Louis Vuitton business came to be, as luggage began to be replaced with Vuitton’s ideas for handbags. Who better to design women’s handbags than someone who was an expert in luggage.

Originally the Noe bags carried 5 bottles of champagne. To Louis Vuitton’s surprise the Noe bag was extremely popular, and it wasn’t long before wealthy woman began to carry this elegant bag.

Calvin Klein 2005 Spring & Summer Collection

September 6, 2008

Calvin Klein ? a name we all recognize and a designer who is world renowned for his fabulous fashions. So how did Calvin Klein come to be?

As a young boy in the 1940s Calvin was already pre-occupied with designing and sketching fashions for women. The boy grew into a young man earning scholarships to both the New York High School of Art and Design; and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

This was at a time when America was just beginning to develop its own originality and uniqueness. Eventually he teamed with his childhood friend Barry Scwartz.

Their very first products were coats for women and men. From coats to ready to wear women’s sportswear with clean lines that were simple and effective. Then came men’s fragrances, underwear, and designer jeans.

Designer jeans that anyone could afford was a new idea and it very quickly took over the jean market. Soon men’s shorts became sexy and a desirable market was created. Then when it was least expected Calvin Klein launched Obsession, Eternity, Escape, CK One, and Contradiction; all household words of fragrance, all obsessions in their own time.

How to Care For Your Designer Handbag

September 2, 2008

Whether your designer handbag is a Louis Vuitton, a Gucci, or any other designer, it is important to take proper care of it. Proper care will give you many years of beauty and use in return.

Most leather designer bags are not treated. This allows the bags to age gracefully and with the character expected from a designer bag, making them distinct and unique. Keep your bag away from makeup, food, or any other oil based product which can stain. When you are not using your bag, store it in a protective cloth container.

The very first thing you should do is treat your handbag with a leather protector to prevent stains from setting in. No matter how careful you are, at some point your likely to leave a mark on it and the leather protection will not allow it to soak in so you’ll be able to more easily remove it.

What to do if you get a stain. Here’s some helpful tips worth trying.

Cleaning leather can be a bit difficult. Leather is rugged and lasts a long time but it does stain quite easily. Depending on the type of leather and the finish, will depend on the cleaning method used.

The Uniqueness of Missoni

August 27, 2008

To Uniqueness of Angela Missoni stands her alone and away from any other designer. A garment designed by Angela easily is picked out of a line of impressive fashions.

Even though Angela Missoni had been involved in the family fashion business she was determined not to follow in the footsteps of her parent.

After having several career from managing a children’s playground to raising organic chickens, she was drawn back to her natural roots and began designing jewelry. Her father offered her a position in the company claiming that the diversity could keep her working in her own department out of the daily reaches of her parents.

Angela soon began designing fashion collections. Her collections were varied. One collection saw accessories added, another some knits, as she always battled to be unique and different.

One day her mother said she felt Angela’s lines should be what Missoni should be about.

Her desire is fueled by her uniqueness. She never wanted to be like any other designer. Angela prides herself in knowing that nothing else in the fashion world looks quite like a Missoni design.

All About Cameos

August 24, 2008

There is something about a cameo that it truly captivating. Be it the attention to fine detail, the elegance of the portraits, there is simply nothing quite as beautiful as a cameo, and they never go out of style.

Cameos can be made from variety of materials, such as abalone, wood, bone, coral, ivory, agate, glass, plastic, various shell types, and layered hard stone which comes in a variety of colors.

Molded cameos are usually made of glass. They usually consist of either one or two colors. Often the colors are swirled together. Glass cameos are usually quite shiny. Molded cameos are also molded from plastic. The wedgwood style cameos were made from plastic. Plastic makes a terrific imitation shell cameo.

Older cameos were often made with celluloid using two colors. Occasionally, but not very often, natural materials are molded. One way to tell if a cameo is molded is to look for a roundness in the detail and a lack of sharp and precise lines. To identify glass cameos look for the presence of mold marks and ridges or dimples on the back.

How You Can Be The New It Girl

August 22, 2008

I was reading an Instyle magazine article featuring Sharon Stone. You know, that Basic Instinct actress who happens to be a genius, with an IQ worthy of Mensa. At 47, she still is a stunner. The sexy blonde woman who raises the temperatures of men is far from a bimbo. As a kid, she would hide in her closet, reading, of all things, the encyclopedia. Brainy girls usually end up as geeks in school. Or do they? Sharon Stone a geek? Now that would be hard to imagine. Apparently, the summer before her senior year, she blossomed into a glamour girl. She bought new boots, white jeans, changed her name, and went back to school as the new girl. From a geek to the beauty guys want to date. Geek or prom queen? It is all in the way you present yourself. Take the new term as a chance to reinvent yourself completely. Your studies need not be affected. You can still put in as much dedication to your school work as before your image change, but that does not mean you have to look like a geek to be smart. Start off by switching from glasses to contact lenses. That alone makes a world of difference. You might want to go all the way be changing your hair color. Go to a professional to have it done the first time around. With the help of an experienced stylist, get the ideal hair color and cut to suit your coloring and face shape. If you like, you can even change the color of your eyes with colored contact lenses. If you do not use make up, now is the time to begin. Start with the basics. Black mascara and a few lipsticks you can mix around to create different colors. Black mascara darkens and lengthens your eye lashes, framing your eyes beautiful. Black mascara is dramatic. Drawing attention to your eyes. As for the lipsticks, get at least 3 lipsticks. 1 red lipstick, 1 darker brown lipstick and 1 lighter pink lipstick. With these, you can mix the colors to get countless different shades of flattering lip colors. Experiment with these to create your new look. A day look and a night look. Next comes the wardrobe revamp. Rather than get lots of cheap items, invest in a few key items you would wear every day. Get a pair of jeans that makes you look your very best, a gorgeous jacket and a pair of great looking boots. These 3 items can define your new look. Now get a few tops you can wear each day. Blouses are back, so a pretty blouse is a must. A few long sleeved t-shirts, well chosen are what you need next. Finally, a beautiful wrap would complete that look. You can get all these in the back to school section of www.sisadvice.com. If you have the time, go for deportment classes. Better yet, go for modelling classes to learn to walk like a model on the catwalk. With your new look, wardrobe and walk, you’ll turn heads as the new girl in school.
