THERE IS POWER IN YOUR CLOSET and it is in the color of your clothes. All people have physiological response to color. The following chart is to be used to dress appropriately for what you wane to achieve. Assuming your closer is already filled with favorites where every item fits you perfectly (for the body as it honestly is today), look to the colors you choose to give you the extra impact to make all your goals a slam dunk!

For businesswomen, the most effective colors are charcoal grey and navy blue. Even though spring is here and bright colors are in fashion, there is power in the colors we sometimes think of as boring or just for winter. When you are dealing with money, people and legal matters, your clients or prospects want to be reassured that you are dependable, trustworthy and focused on the matters at hand. The darker the shade of every color, the more down to earth and reliable you appear. Greys project authority. Blues project trust. Darken these two colors and you can see why they are so effective when you go to a meeting to sign a contract, discuss a raise or promotion, or deal with lawyers and bankers.

Dont Let Your Kanji Tattoo Get Lost In Translation

Thinking of getting a kanji tattoo or kanji jewelry? Then arm yourself with this information before you buy anything. It may be the difference between being cool and national humiliation.

What? National humiliation? Well OK, national humiliation is an unlikely outcome, but an article in the March 1st, 2005 Washington Post Express shows that the possibility is there. “Lost in Translation” looked at the real dangers facing the unwary consumers who get kanji tattoos.

I am not joking when I say "real dangers". But neither am I referring to unhygenic tattooing practices. What I am talking about is toe-curlingly appalling linguistic blunders. Specifically, I mean kanji combinations like these:

- Extremely Military Affairs Stopping - Crazy Diarrhea - Weird (tattooed on one B. Spears)

Yes, these are phrases that real people (yes, Britney Spears is a real person) actually have had tattooed into their skin.

To be honest, I am not entirely surprised at these and other errors. After all, I have seen many reversed images of kanji being offered for tattoos, and kanji jewelry that simply did not mean anything like it was supposed to.

Dry Skin Prevention Tips

If you suffer from dry skin your probably always looking for different ways to help improve your condition. There are some different products that can help keep it under control, many of witch don’t help that well. You do need to find the right products and know how to apply them. Here are some tips to help you control your dry skin.

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you only take one bath or shower per day. You also should use warm water, not hot. Be sure to not scrub to hard. If you don’t follow these steps your skin wont produce sebum like it should. Sebum is what produces oil to keep your skin feeling natural.

Here are some other tips that you should follow to prevent dry skin.

- Apply moisturizer after you take a bath. Many products work best when your skin is still wet.

- Antiperspirants and perfumes can cause dry skin. If you use either one of these be sure to not over use them.

- If you live in a cold climate your house or work place may have very dry air. You will need a humidifier to help keep the air more moist.

Today, sunglasses have become everyone’s bestfriend. We never leave home without them. We carry them just about anywhere our lives take us. We never miss out on every opportunity to sneak at the shades counter whenever we get the chance. Sunglasses are fast becoming indispensable. They don’t just keep out those dangerous UV rays but they also exude a lot of attitude. They’re our eyes on the world, especially the fashion world. The world ultimately looks better and hipper through the lenses. But with all the variety of trends coming on the scene, how do we pick the right shades? How do we know they fit our facial profile?

The Swan on the Chopping Block

When Anderson wrote "The Ugly Duckling", he was imagining a natural transformation from awkward youth to mature beauty. His vision did not include a meat cleaver. The new network show, "The Swan" is a travesty on so many levels that it is difficult to know where to begin. There is nothing wrong with using cosmetic surgery to correct a definitive flaw but to turn yourself over to megalomaniacs with scalpels is cause for more therapy than these women are receiving.

It is unconscionable that television should even consider anything so potentially damaging. However, the women who allow themselves to be the golden goose (to mix metaphors) are equally to blame. What sane women would with good conscience turn herself over to strangers without having any input into what is being done.

The Swan reflects society’s superficial attitude towards cosmetic surgery as a cure all for everything from natural aging to an unhealthy lifestyle. It is not enough that millions of baby boomers are already flocking to cosmetic surgeons to graft an artificial spring over a natural winter, now they are fiercely promoting the idea to much younger women even in those in their 20s who admittedly should look far better than they do but could substitute restraint for butchery to improve themselves without outside help. Taking individual responsibility is a far healthier solution to the problem

Aging would not be so bad if it did not tell on us at every encounter. As we hug one another, we register the love handles on the other’s waist, the flab on their arms and the sag on their cheeks. We stare into each other’s faces. After all, only saints find no pleasure in the wrinkles of their peers. We are not inexcusable sinners; we are checking to see how well we are holding up. Estimating someone’s age and deciding how well that person has aged tells us a lot. Looking and feeling younger than chronological age has increasingly becomes a yardstick of success. Preoccupation with age is a reality for our rapidly aging society. It is part of our resume and every bit as important as our employment records.

Jeans are becoming such a moth-eaten that they’re coming to close quarters with being a total faux-pas. But how do you squeeze out a savvy style for your jeans without becoming too distinct? The answer: ACCESSORIZE! Exude style savvy with your jeans using the following tips:

  • For low-waist jeans, use navel diamonds and gems to accentuate a cute belly-button. You can also wrap silver chain-belts around your tummy, to shimmer while you dance “the bump”. For a totally 70’s look, add on colorful bangles and large hoop rings.
  • For capris, wear anklets - either a slim gold chain to accent a trim ankle or ethnic beads for a “beach-babe” look. You can also add hip body bags for a sportier look.

What Is Soap?

Soap is the oldest cleanser around. It is created by a chemical reaction between oils, water and lye. Although lye is used to make soap there is no lye left after saponification (the chemical reaction that makes soap) is complete. There is no such thing as a bar of soap that was made without the use of lye. Different kinds of soap are made using a variety of different oils. Both animal & plant oils can be used in the soap making process, each adding different qualities to the soap.

Conventional Bar Soaps

Much of the soap available in the store today is not really soap at all, but a detergent. Detergents are a petroleum based product, like gasoline and kerosene. Have you ever noticed how regular soap leaves your skin feeling dry, itchy and tight? Alkali, the most common irritant in soap is often the culprit. Others ingredients in mass-marketed soap have been proven harmful to human health and can cause severe skin irritations in some people. These include ingredients such as DEA, Isopropyl Alcohol, BHT and Triclosan (commonly found in anti-bacterial soap). The most common ingredient in conventional bar soaps is sodium tallowate. It is the natural product of combining tallow, or beef fat, with lye. The attractiveness for tallow for mass producing soap is that it processes quickly, produces a hard bar of soap and is cheap and plentiful.

Indoor Versus Outdoor Tanning

The benefits of indoor tanning versus outdoor tanning are widely discussed in the cosmetic and health industries, It is ultimately up to you to decide which method is healthy and convenient for you.

When you visit an indoor tanning facility, your skin produces a tan in the same way that it does when you bask in the sun — through the absorption of ultraviolet light.

However, one of the dangers of outdoor tanning is exposing yourself to too much ultraviolet light. Climate changes in the atmosphere that has many of us slathering on sunblock and sunscreen before we step outside in the hot sun.

One of the benefits of indoor tanning is that it allows you to control the amount of UV light that you are exposed to, so that you do not get a sunburn or prepare your epidermis for a predisposition to skin cancer.

You cannot control harmful UV rays from the sun anymore than you can control the weather.

Compared to indoor tanning, outdoor tanning is actually one of the most unreliable ways to achieve that perfect tan. It is, however, a reliable way to achieve a sunburn. Waiting for a reddish burn to fade to a brown accelerates the aging process.
